Rui Rebelo is in charge of Oficina do Duque, Oficina Craft Snackery – a food truck at 8Marvila – and Terraço Editorial, a rooftop restaurant and wine bar in the heart of Lisbon’s Baixa district. He plans to soon open RecReio, a private food bar for 5 people with many surprises, where he will unleash his boundless creativity, by reservation only.
Rui began his training at the University of Caxias do Sul, in Brazil. To escape the formality of the Brazilian school system, he dove into a street food truck in London to gain some more experience. He continued his training at CETT – University of Barcelona – where he completed a Master’s degree in Executive and Creative Haute Cuisine, and also studied Innovative Techniques and Technologies in the Kitchen and Molecular Cuisine. Afterwards, he worked among the stars: in the kitchens of Alkymia (1 Michelin star) and Abac (2 Michelin stars), both in Barcelona.
He learned the combination of emotion and technology from Ferran Adrià, the pursuit of excellence from Joan Roca, and the sophistication of sweetness from Ramon Morató – the world’s best chocolatier. His professional portfolio also includes stints at 100 Maneiras, McDonald’s, and Tróia Design Hotel.
Rui Rebelo also manages catering services, having provided for the kitchens of the Cannes Film Festival, Rock in Rio, and Teatro Mário Viegas, among others.
